I’m looking into purchasing a 50″ HDTV but I can’t make up my mind on which one to purchase. The rear projection tv is a lot cheaper in price but I’m afraid I won’t get the quality picture. Any suggestions will be helpful.

go with the lcd. rear projection tv’s are cheaper for a reason, poor picture quality. go with a samsung lcd.

Projection television has a larger box
Projection television has less viewing angle
Projection television has a bulb to replace every 500 hours
Projection televison is not hung on the wall, the older style needs no tv cart or table
LCD TV is more expensive
LCD TV pixels may go out
LCD TV has about 60,000 hours of life

Projection HDTV’s are getting thinner and better in quality images. The older projection HDTV’s use a spinning color wheel and replaceable high tempurature lamp (~$300-$500).
DON’T GET THIS TYPE!!
The new projection HDTV’s are coming out with red/green/blue LED’s that replace the color wheel and eliminate the high tempurature lamp.
Within the next few years, the LED’s will be replaced by LASER’s, giving the entire color spectrum of the rainbow.
