What is the difference between a DVR and a DVD Recorder?

Patti my love, your quite demanding….
A DVR has a hard drive like your computer. record and delete and re-record all you like.
A DVD can be found in a re-recordable media or, cheaper, record once. Now you can record 6, maybe 8 hours of stuff on one disc and you can use it more than once up until you “finalize” the disc. You have to do this using the DVD menu and you have to do this if you want to use the dvd on anything other than your recorder..

Your mother is correct.
A DVR records on a hard drive. Most also will copy to DVDs. WalMart carries the Philips DVR. It is a good one I highly recommend. It writes its recordings to a hard drive and will copy to a DVD if you want. You record by time and channel like you did with a VHS recorder. There are no monthly subscription fees.
Yes, you can put more then one show on a DVD. You can put up to six hours on a DVD but the quality is slightly reduced.
