Stanley C asked:

For instance, if I had an Apple 23″ Cinema Display, could I plug the outputs from my cable box into the inputs on the Mac and watch HDTV on the monitor?

Either that or there might be a converter box to change the signal to something the display can use.

No, unless the monitor had a built-in TV tuner. Most monitors do not, therefore you would need to buy a TV tuner card and run the video feed through your computer first.

If you want an HDTV, then buy an HDTV. A 20″ LCD TV is very inexpensive, if you are looking for something small.
