I just bought a 37″ Magnavox LCD HDTV, but I am having problems. Help/Advice?
Model# 37MF437B -37″ Magnavox LCD
First off, I’m new to HDTVs. This is my very first one, and so far I’m not that impressed. But, I might also be an idiot. I bought this TV at Samsclub for $998.00. In this store, the TV picture looked GREAT! But, when I brought the new one home, not so much. The picture is a little fuzzy, images don’t even compare to my old tube. The colors are off. And no matter how much I adjust the settings around, nothing is looking that great. However, I am just viewing regular TV, nothing HD yet. Still, I figured HDTVs would still display regular TV pretty well. Is there something wrong with my set, or do HD TV’s just not display regular programming well? (i.e. satellite, cable)?
Also, When I turned my set on, I can see this little white spot in the upper left corner. It won’t go away. It doesn’t really affect my viewing too much, but the fact that I know its there drives me insane. Should I consider hauling this set all the way back to Sam’s for a trade-in?

I work at sears and we sell this particular item to start off the tv is not so great its 720p with a low contrats ratio by the way sams club is running of digital channel which means you will not get the same picture unless you have digital cable if u buy a hd tv antenna the only channels you will get digital are local channels and also the white dot u see its a dead pixel return the tv its defective

Standard def tv will look like crap on HD flat panels. Basically your singal coming in is at 480 lines and the tv basicallty has to stretch it to fit the 720 lines of the set. Thats why it looks fuzzy/grainy. You are gonna need HD coming in if you want pic that looks comperable to the stores.

. GOOD advise from the first Poster! Magnavox is NOT high in quality! Although 4 out of 5 of the following ‘Reviews’ give the TV a good rating, you can do better. You do NOT want this set in your home for the next 10 Years! Probably the reason the tv in the store worked so well is because they have an excellent reception and the pros adjusted it for maximum clarity!
“…This HDTV does have a great picture but the assembly instructions are poor. I had to return it and buy a Sony.” …
“…I honestly can’t relate to half of these reviews here. I got a refurb a couple weeks ago and it’s been absolutely great. ” …
“…I’m going on as many forums as possible to tell people to stay away from this TV. I bought one. It looks awesome, when it works. It often will go blank.” …
“… I do have two concerns:
1. It takes over a minute for the tv to turn on. Is this normal?
2. Twice the picture blacked out as if the tv shut off, but the power light was still on. ” … etc.
…Read the CunsumerSearch. Go with Sony, JVC or Sharp.
