How to connect a DVD to a HDTV with Component Video Cables?

When I am trying to connect my DVD player (LG DVX9900) to my new HDTV (TH-42PX77U) with component cables (red, blue, green + red and white for audio) I can only get sound but no picture! Why? The instructions seem pretty straight forward, but I can’t understand why it’s not working. Would appreciate any help with this.

    hello…tell your TV to switch the import source…it may be set to HDMI by default … i will assume the cables are hooked up correctly
