I’d be very grateful for any advice concerning product, price or installation snags they might have to face. Your best reccomendation in the $700-$800 range….really appreciated. Thanx!

When u say dvdc/combo unit, do u mean the tvs with the dvd connected to the tv?…cause if you are, NEVER buy one of those.

  2. Broadcast engineer Says:

Sharp Aquos is one of the highest rated sets according to reports published in local newspapers and trade publications.

Sony is a highly rated brand.

DVD combo unit avoids the problem of “How do we connect this DVD to the TV?” But it introduces the problem of “DVD player is broken so TV won’t turn on” in some cheap models.

If they want quality buy the Sharp Aquos or a Sony set.

    1. Don’t get a DVD combo! You can get a progressive scan DVD player for $30. Absolutely, buy separate!
2.Unless you are sitting very close to the TV, a 32″ is minimum size, without binoculars. Remember, a 32″ LCD screen will not be as tall (vertical measurement) as an old 32″ CRT!
    3. Sony Bravia XRB is the class of LCDs, but isn’t in your price range (exception - you might find a close out on a XRB2). Generally speaking, for a 32″ LCD, look for Toshiba for best quality under $900.
    5. Circuit City now has a 32″ Panasonic LCD, Model No. TC 32LX70 on sale for $799. This is a great buy! Unless you are going to roll the dice and buy one off the internet, grab this and run. Best 32″ LCD price I’ve seen in a while. IMO, Panasonic is top drawer, right under Sony, and much better quality than Sharp Aquos.
