If you bought using credit card, most credit card companies have 2x warranty coverage. Check with your credit card before buying it. You may be told that “we cover everything”. When the time comes, they will find excuse not to cover it.
If credit card is not offering the extended warranty coverage, don’t buy it. After all you have bought good brand name that has reputation. I have bought many electronic goods including new Plasma TV from Panasonic. Don’t waste your money.

Yes, especially if it’s a used television. Make sure you find out what the warranty covers (parts and labor, on-site repairs) and any monetary responsibilities that you would have should you have a claim (shipping costs one way or both ways, deductibles, etc.).

If you’ve spent $500 or more, then it would be in your best interest to have a warranty because chances are if you need any repairs, the cost will far exceed the $120 of warranty protection.

depends what you spent on the tv. but read the entire contract first, abuse,(own fault), and bulbs usually not part of the plan, so read carefully.if you paid more than 799.99 for the set and the terms are easy to understand, do it dude. parts are not too expensive ,but labor is a bitch.

Yes, buy the warranty. Rear-projection TV technology is the oldest HD technology on the market right now. The picture on your rear-projection TV is known as a CRT (cathode-ray tube) display. Rather than problems with the pixels or the black level of the picture, your whole display could burn out, depending on how old the TV is. I’d buy that warranty with it.

How long is the manufacturers warranty that comes with the TV for free? Most makers offer one year parts and labor. Is it a LCD or DLP? These are not old technologies and your TV most definitely is not a CRT if it’s HD. The biggest problem is with bulb life. Since you bought it used from eBay I’d get the warranty

Yes projection technology is very fragile and can be knocked out of synchronization by the smallest nudge. The screen is also susceptible to be burnt by static pictures - so if you plan to connect your computer to it, be careful.

I would say the warranty is a definite value for money and peace of mind

i would say yes. my friend had an HDTV….same size i think too but it had problems in the first 6 months. apparently HDTVs have more problems then a regular tv
